Concert Review and Photos: STATIC-X at The Firmament

The Firmament | Greenville, SC | 26 June 2019

Static-X returned to South Carolina for the first time since 2012 for the 20th Anniversary Tour of their Wisconsin Death Trip album, which peaked at #107 on the US Billboard Top 200 and was certified platinum in 2001. It is also their Memorial Tribute to their bandmate Wayne Static, who tragically passed away on November 1st, 2014. As previously stated by bassist Tony Campos, “It’s about remembering Wayne, remembering the original line-up of the band, (Wayne Static, Ken Jay, Kiochi Fukuda, and Tony Campos), and remembering all of the good times we had when we first started doing this”.

Static-XI don’t want to spoil too much of the show since it is just getting started but I will say from the opening song “Bled for Days” until the last song “Push It”, I was absolutely blown away by the band’s performance and Xero was amazing, his vocals were on point and a few times if I was looking it actually seemed as if Wayne himself had returned to the stage!

The setlist featured Wisconsin Death Trip in its entirety, as well as songs from the Machine, Cannibal, and Shadow Zone albums. The tour features DevilDriver, Wednesday 13, Dope, and Raven Black as the opening bands who all were Insane and had the crowd hyped up and ready for Static-X. So make sure you get there early as the bands started 30 minutes after the doors opened and I promise you don’t want to miss a single one!

Static-X is also working on a new album named “Project Regeneration” and it will be released a little later this year featuring the last recordings of Wayne Static and The 20th Anniversary Tour has just kicked off so head over to the link below and check the tour dates to see if tickets are available as shows are Selling Out!!
