Australian sludge/doom outfit GHOSTSMOKER is proud to announce the impending release of their debut album Inertia Cult, due out March 21 via Art as Catharsis. The band’s second single “Elogium” is now streaming via No Clean Singing.

“We made the decision for this to be the opener of the record because it’s primal and abrasive, with a hint of ambiance, so it’s a good introduction on what to expect,” says vocalist Nathan Brunning. ”Elogium is a tribute, or elegy, to someone who has passed, who lived their life going through pain and struggle, hoping to see the day that it was all worth it, but unfortunately never got to have their moment in the sun before their life was cut short.”
Featuring six tracks recorded and mixed by Jason Fuller (Brutal Truth, King Parrot) and mastered by John Ruberto, with gorgeous cover art by Adam Burke (Unto Others, Terminal Nation), Inertia Cult represents an evolution for the Melbourne doom quartet. The band’s newly refined, collaborative approach to recording has allowed the band to hammer out powerful riffs, tighter song structures, and further experimentation with mood and atmospherics.
