Sometimes, artists can release an album that is amazing all the way through and somehow manage to flesh out the collection even more several months later. That’s what Paleface Swiss has achieved. AntiHero once visited the gut-punching album from Paleface Swiss titled Cursed, but now we get the honor of revisiting the album via their latest release, Cursed – The Complete Edition, featuring an all-new song, standalone singles that haven’t been featured on an album, and a brand-new intimate version of their song “River of Sorrows.”
We can start by discussing the new single, exclusive to the complete edition of the album, “I Am a Cursed One,” which appears to be a tribute to the Paleface Swiss fanbase. This song is absolutely heavy, filled with breakdowns and heart-pounding screams. The amount of love put into this song is a perfect example of the passion Paleface has for their fans. Lyrically, the song tackles the struggles of life, but also the comfort of knowing that there is someone out there dealing with the same daily struggles.
“Being included on Cursed seems to breathe new life into the songs and allows them to flow within the overall theme of the album.”
The band released three standalone singles before announcing their album Cursed. The singles featured are “Best Before: Death,” “Please End Me,” and “The Gallow.” While these songs were amazing by themselves, being included on Cursed seems to breathe new life into them and allows them to flow within the overall theme of the album.
Finally, the most powerful part of this complete album is the unplugged version of the song “River of Sorrows,” featuring Ron Deris. This strips down every distorted aspect of the original song to sound more raw. This allows the emotion to flow through even more between the vocals and the instrumentation. The song was emotional and amazing before, but this acoustic version shows a vulnerability that has never been attempted before from such a hard-hitting band.
