NEW ALBUM FORTITUDE AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE

2x Grammy® nominated band Gojira have announced additional dates for their fall U.S. headline tour featuring special guests Knocked Loose and Alien Weaponry.  Touring in support of their acclaimed album FORTITUDE, Gojira’s new tour dates include stops in Stroudsburg, PA (10/25), Richmond, VA (11/1), Knoxville, TN (11/2), Madison, WI (11/5), St. Louis, MO (11/6), and Fort Wayne, IN (11/7). Additionally, a handful of Gojira’s previously announced headline performances including stops in Albany, NY, Boise, ID and Chattanooga, TN (Sold Out) have shifted to new dates with the Albany venue upgrading to The Albany Capital Center due to popular demand.  It was announced last week that Gojira’s summer run supporting Deftones has been postponed until spring 2022 with all tickets purchased for the tour honored for the new 2022 dates [updated itinerary below]. For tickets and for more information on Gojira’s live schedule visit www.gojira-music.com.

Earlier this year Gojira made a stunning global chart impact with their celebrated new album FORTITUDE.  The French band’s new studio album entered Billboard’s ‘Top Albums’ chart at #1, while also claiming the #1 spot on Billboard’s ‘Top Current Albums,’ ‘Current Rock Albums,’ and ‘Current Hard Music Albums’ tallies. The release also marked a career high debut on the ‘Billboard 200’ for Gojira, arriving at #12, with several career high chart positions and Top 10 debuts in countries around the globe including: France (#2), United Kingdom (#6), Australia (#3), Germany (#8), Belgium (#2), Netherlands (#4), Denmark (#3), Portugal (#4), Finland (#2), and Norway (#10).

FORTITUDE is highlighted by the singles “Another World,” “Born For One Thing,” “Into The Storm,” “Amazonia,” and most recently “The Chant,” a slow-burning track featuring some of Gojira’s most melodic material to date.  The official music video for “The Chant,” which was written/conceived by the band’s own Joe Duplantier and directed by Russell Brownley was filmed on location in India’s West Bengal region in December of 2019.  The cinematic video examines the plight of refugee children from Tibet who fled their homeland in an attempt to preserve their culture following China’s invasion of the country in 1949.

Recorded and Produced by Joe Duplantier at Silver Cord Studio – Gojira’s Ridgewood, Queens, headquarters – and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine), FORTITUDE is Gojira’s first album in five years and the follow-up to 2016’s Grammy® nominated LP MAGMA.  A collection of songs urging humanity to imagine a new world—and then make it happen, FORTITUDE has been earning widespread critical praise with ROLLING STONE naming it one of their “Best Albums of 2021 So Far” and remarking “It’s all the rage of death metal mixed with the conscience of punk rock and the musicality of progressive rock.”  NPR hailed “Another World” as “an apocalyptic banger,” and PASTE called “Into The Storm” a “much-needed revolutionary anthem.”  STEREOGUM declared, “hearing this band operating at their peak is a life-affirming thing,” while REVOLVER attested “FORTITUDE, could spark a revolution.”

On 2016’s MAGMA, Gojira found strength—and crossover success—through a singular commitment to self-reflection. The intensely personal record, penned in memory of the Duplantier brothers’ late mother, was a painful significant turning point for the French group.  The album earned the band two GRAMMY nominations – ‘Best Metal Performance’ and ‘Best Rock Album,’ and upon release, MAGMA took the #1 spot on BILLBOARD’s ‘Hard Rock Albums’ chart, a first for a French band.  MAGMA also asserted itself as one of the most acclaimed albums of 2016, earning METAL HAMMER’s coveted “Album of the Year” title while also landing on ROLLING STONE’s “Top 20 Metal Albums of 2016,” and CONSEQUENCE OF SOUNDS’s “Top 50 Albums of 2016” / “Top 10 Metal Albums of 2016” lists.
