The Fillmore Charlotte – Charlotte, NC – 23 April 2017

With a rush of high energy, skin tight leather pants, cheetah print and with more hair spray than a 1980’s hair salon, the 2017 Girls In A Row tour made a glamorous stop at The Fillmore Charlotte for a night of rock and entertainment.

Fans of headliners Steel Panther gathered outside the venue despite the heavy rainfall that covered the area on the night of the show for an opportunity to see one of their favorite bands perform. VIP guests were allowed early access to The Fillmore for a meet and greet, the diverse crowd ranging from big haired Glam Metal fans to the patch-adorned denim vest rockers, seized the moment to take a picture with the band.

Citizen Zero

As the lights dimmed in the venue, Citizen Zero took the stage to help build the anticipation and dry the water-logged crowd out. Delivering a very energetic set, the support act gave the crowd a performance to remember, especially with their cover of Ted Nugent’s ‘Stranglehold’, in which the crowd responded with cheers, also allowing the newcomers a chance to bond with their newfound fan base as the entire building sang along. I had a chance to speak with the band before they hit the stage, stating that the tour was “awesome” and fans of Steel Panther are “true music fans”.

Steel Panther

When the headliners hit the stage, the crowd erupted with screams and cheers. Before the band began their performance, they took a moment to shake the hands of all of the photographers and journalists in the crowd as a “Thank You” for covering the show. Once the band began their hour and forty-minute set list, the crowd released their energy and anticipation. Steel Panther spent most of the night interacting with fans and delivering tales of sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll between their songs.

Overall, the show was one for the books, the mix of modern rock and 80s hair metal gave fans an experience that covered multiple generations. The 2017 Girls In A Row tour is coming to a close, but you can still catch support act Citizen Zero when they return to North Carolina for the 2017 Carolina Rebellion Festival in Concord, NC on May 5-7.
