Rock am Ring is returning to the Nürburgring, the original location of the festival back from 1985 when the festival started its long and colourful history.
Festival suffered from unfavorable weather conditions at the Mendig airport during the two last years, where the festival suffered from thunderstorms and in 2016 was cut short because of the problems, where almost hundred people got injured during the storms.
The conditions set for the festival at Mendig were also unsustainable and despite the record visitors numbers, economic efficiency was questionable in the long term by immense specific requirements such as extended environmental protection requirements for nature conservation, species and water protestion. Even all these conditions were reportedly met one hundred percent, the had exceeded the limits what is feasible. With the future of the festival in the foreground, the change of location was necessary.
Rock am Ring and Rock im Park have already confirmed 30 bands to play on the first weekend of June and will be headlined by System Of A Down, Die Toten Hosen and Rammstein and fans can look forward to many more bands such as Prophets Of Rage, In Flames, AIrbourne, Five Finger Death Punch, Alter Bridge and many more are yet to be announced.
