Concert Review and Photos: FEEDER with REIGNING DAYS at O2 Ritz Manchester

FEEDER with REIGNING DAYS at O2 Ritz Manchester – 03 October 2016

Review and Photos by Christopher James Ryan

Feeder are back tonight with an incredible sold-out show.  Their UK tour is in full spirit, and Manchester is showing full support for the return of this iconic band. Celebrating the launch of their new album, All Bright Electric, tonight’s setlist has a great mix of the classics as well as new hits.

Supporting Feeder is Reigning Days. Coming to the end of their tour with Feeder, so they’re giving all they’ve got. For a Monday gig, it does sound like a challenge as the event is early, however this venue is packed – I’d say at least ¾ full when Reigning Days started to play, and this gig is Sold Out so more people will arrive a bit later. Reigning Days have launched a new EP from which they have played three new tracks, opening with “Empire,” followed by “Friendly Fire,” and during the end of the set, “Renegade.”

Reigning Days are happy to be performing in Manchester, cranking out the rock with a spice of grunge in some tracks, but that is far from a bad thing! These guys are in the new wave of rock bands, but the great thing is that they are performing alongside the old school 90’s rock. It is a great mix and the crowd is loving Reigning Days. Talking positively about the night, prepping the crowd for Feeder, Reigning Days are owning the stage with confidence, you can see why they are a fantastic choice for this tour.

Reigning Days have been working hard and in the past year, playing many UK festivals such as Download, Camden Rock, Dot to Dot, and many more.  You can tell these guys are making a name for themselves, and after tonight’s performance you can see why!

Ever wanted to know what the 90’s feels like but you never got the chance too? Well, look no more – seeing Feeder was an experience.  Kicking off the set with two new tracks, opening with “Another Day on Earth,” kicking off with a slow-paced start of the song building up the atmosphere before the rock kicks in mid-song, with an overwhelming greet and cheer from the crowd.  Cracking out the rock with, “Universe of Life,” the second new track of the night. Spicing things up tonight we have a pianist – it’s not often you see a mix like this. During the set, we are spoiled with old classics such as “Feeling a Moment” and “Just the Way I’m Feeling,” you can see from this the crowd are enjoying the set, singing and clapping along – it’s great to see a full venue of 1,500 people singing in sync.

Ending the set with “Buck Rogers” is obviously one of the favourite tracks played and has everyone singing their hearts out. And that’s the end of the main set. However, sticking around was the best choice as after several minutes of people chanting for more, Feeder come onto stage asking, “does anyone want to hear some more?” Managing to squeeze in four more songs, including some old tracks like “Sweet 16” and ending on “Just a Day.”

You can see how the band has been transforming over the years, but with their new album they’re back to their roots and marking their ground, showing Feeder are back in business! This has been a fantastic night and I do hope to see both bands again soon!
